This (link: Makita XCU04PT 18V X2 (36V) LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 16 in. Chainsaw Kit (5.0Ah)) looks good to me. I have a Husky battery saw, which is/was top of the line, kind of like a 'pro' saw when I bought a little over a year ago, and it's really good, but my gosh, it cost me a lot more than this! If I were going to buy this Makita (which I am not because I have the Husky!), I would buy another set of batteries. With my Husky, it came with one battery, I think, and I bought two more. Limbing or bucking small stuff, or a keep-in-truck saw, or when you need less noise, awesome.

I just bought the wife a Husky 540I XP, a charger and extra battery. Its a great saw, perfect for what she wants, and gets 4 hrs or so on a charge. You are right it cost way more than that one, the saw with a battery was almost double that cost, add in a separate battery and charger and its closer to 4 times the cost. All I could say to the shop owner when I bought it is she's worth it.

I'm not ready for a battery powered saw yet. I just think battery technology is not there yet for saws, cars or houses. But you can't develop a new product by starting at the end point. When they develop a battery powered saw that can keep up with my 661 then maybe I'll get one. But at almost 69 years I think I'll be retired from sawing before that comes to pass.
Since I already had Harbor Freight Bauer stuff, I took a chance and bought the 10 inch saw. It is at the bottom of the food chain for quality, etc, but it does a good job for limb pruning and cutting up to 8 inch branches to throw into the boiler. I recommend battery saw to anyone who would like to get a saw for occasional use. Been telling my brother that is what we need at the tree farm, so we aren’t jacking with trying to start a dormant gas saw when we need one there. I suspect the brand name units across the board are good. I tell people if they have a line of battery tools already, just add the brand they already have battery and charger for. I plan to add a bigger battery saw to my work tools. Great to knock out cutting on after work evenings whe I don’t want to shower off two stroke exhaust.
I just realized that my Husky 540i saw's bar oil tank is see-through. Awesome! You gotta remember to keep oil in there! By looking at the Makita mentioned above in the OP, it appears to me that it also is like this.
