I'm somewhere around 1.75 cord since November 5th. That's including a little less than a face cord of aspen shoulder wood in the beginning, about a face cord of red and chestnut oak, a little bit of black locust, some apple, beech, and my staple this year has been black birch with some yellow birch mixed in. November and a good part of December I was only having a small fire in the morning, then another one in the evening. For the last 3-4 weeks, the stove has been running almost constantly though.

About 1.3 cords. Counting from the first fire back in the fall.

Just over 2 cord since mid December. But that's 100% of our heat and hot water. This includes the 40x64 shop.
    -5* this morning.

The thread title could have been

"One month into winter...over three months into burning....how much wood have you burned?"

We burned 2.1C fall of '21. Our first fall burning.
CY '22 1 cord with 3+ handy for the rest of the season.

We're actually measuring wood use by how many times we empty the rack outside. I think last spring's numbers were off.

No. When you skin Beaver, skunk, coyote and so on, you have to flesh the hides. You scrape of the fat when you flesh to stretch for selling or tanning. End up with 100's of pounds of fat. Perfect for BTU's. Been going on for hundreds of years. Just have to have a little understanding on how much you can put in at a time. A little goes a long way.

We are about a cord and a half. Which I don't think is to bad considering I like it at 80*. Our house is small so not that big of an area to heat.

About 1.5 cords here in Western Washington. We started now and then in early Oct. but then burned a lot in the Christmas cold snap. We only burn about 6-7 hrs a day as the house gets too hot. Mostly Doug Fir.

update. If we burn the last 2/3 of a cord, we're looking at 5 cord YTD. Or heating season to date.
I don't know that that will be enough. so we have a back up supply in a closet, a bunch of shorts I'd like to use up, and some shoulder season wood we can get into.
Perhaps that'll buy us spring time without running the furnace. that will put us up to 5.5 cord YTD.

I'm kinda thinking this year was warmer than others, or cold later at the end of the year anyway. We closed off unused portions of the house to cut down a bit on wood use.
Next season though, we may have more people here.
Which means stocking more up at the house, and naturally hoarding more.
I really hope we have a drier summer than summer of '21!!

Well, were in the home stretch for winter, I'm down 2-1/2 cord so far! NOT BAD, for the old Fisher Grandma! She's been cranking right along and I noticed with the new pipe system vs. the old chimney, she's burning much easier/smoother for sure!
