    I think it burns hotter than pine...unless you get some extra sappy pine...or fatwood.

    Same cedar used in cedar chests and closets. Its actually a juniper even though i call it cedar.

    Eastern red cedar should had it cut up into lumber. The red will last a long time for outside projects. There's poles down the creek from me that a marina put in 50 years ago and the still there today.

    I believe its red cedar. Love burning it in my fireplace. Burns hot with bright flames and pops like crazy.

    I'd never go get cedar for firewood. But I had a big western red cedar cut down last month and I'll be burning a bunch of it next season. Even after giving away as much as I could, I have over a cord of it stacked up.
