I know everyone has favorite stories on a long day of cutting in your favorite place. I was cutting up on my favorite mountain with my best cutting buddy and we was working on our last 2 loads late on a sat evening and cut a dead locus down and the bottom half split like a rail fence. There is only 1 man lives on the mountain and has for years. Any way he always hollars at me when I come out of the hollar and me and my buddy had a few buds after the load and Billy is his name ask us if we had a good day cutting and I offered him a bud and told him hail yea that dm stihl was cutting so good it was cutting and busting at the same time lol I was holding a piece from the split tree lol All of us ended up on the ground loughing. Any special ones of yals ??

I have seen an oak that broke in half on it so own accord like that. It was in a log load. Had me puzzled as to how it was pre-split. And it was a pain on the arse because the half rounds couldn't be rolled.

Something about a split rail fence, a "locus" tree, an old man smoking marijuana and a chainsaw? Your story gave me a headache trying to figure out WTH actually happened!

Not sure why but as I was reading the opening post it brought back some memories of one time my wife and I had our motor home parked near where our old hunting camp was. This is in MI's Upper Peninsula and it was in July. One of those very rare days and the temperature got over 100 degrees! That rarely happens up there. Anyway, an old fart we've met a few times suddenly came down the 2-track and stopped. I was a bit worried about him as he had a large load of wood and it was so hot. He was fine though. We sat and drank a bit while shooting the bull. Oh ya, a week later we had to run the furnace a couple times. Changeable weather sometimes.
