I didn’t have to go far for this one or work very hard at it One of the tree services that gives me wood showed up across the street this morning, crane and all. Had a quick chat with the owner and the deal was done.

Had to go to work. When I got home the back yard had this in it.

One big pignut. About 30” DBH. 24’ of trunk log and a few pieces of the crown. The ‘little stuff’ all went into his chipper.

The tree died real fast. I noticed it had a few dead branches last year and then this most of the rest of it died off this year.

Nice! Cant get much easier than that. Did the crane just swing and drop it in the yard? Looks like all the meat is good too. Kinda cool looking ends on a couple of the logs.

It’s everywhere in the woods, but not as plentiful as all the Oak species.

It’s common but oak and maple are the most prominent.
