    Any tips for telling difference between oak and ash?

    One log looks like red oak. The reddish wood.
    The lighter colored wood looks like ash. They both split easy. That’s a nice load of logs for sure.

    Oak has very pronounced/visible to the naked eye medullary rays.
    Oak also has a unique smell.

    In that pic, top right is the red oak.


    I used to have to do the <edit, rotate, save> routine with portrait pics taken with a Canon Elph camera, or they would post "sideways" .

    Exactly.

    Ash is great wood, and it will be ready much sooner than the oak will. So it's good that you got more ash than oak.
