Yesterday a tree service was dropping an unusually straight boxelder at my backyard neighbor's place.

I went over and asked the guys to leave the trunk sections on my side of the alley.

Verbatim from the tree service guy: "You do realize this is boxelder, right?"

Me: "Yeah, I'm not above boxelder."

    He laughed.

    I laughed.

And then I got to haul wood in 90 degree heat.

I take it too. It seasons quickly. I've found that you can't ever have too much shoulder season wood.

Straight Box Elder...pfft! That's unicorn wood! ;)
I have a bunch in my stacks now...not near that straight though!
The way the winters have been here in NEO here lately, need plenty of SS wood...especially with feeding the mighty mighty Kuuma...little bit of Kuuma chow goes a long way!

Maybe a cookie is in order off that log with the three holes in it in the upper left of your first picture , kind of looks like a goofie' face looking at you.

Ill burn box elder whenever it rears its ugly head. It dries fast and burns pretty decent!

Nothing wrong with Boxelder - Dries fast and heats the house jus fine. Sap makes fine Maple Syrup too - Boxelder is in the Maple family.
