Has anyone swapped a motor out on a wood splitter? I have a Briggs and Stratton that has a crack in the block that is fixed with jb weld. I want to go to a Honda motor band want to know if it's feasible first. The Honda motor will have a couple more horse power then the Briggs and Stratton.

Yes I have. Swapped a Briggs for a predator. It’s a pretty straight forward deal.

I hear good things about a predator motor along with the price.

Yes and yes. I am currently using a 13hp Powertrain that is basically a predator. It has been rock solid. I put a new carb on it and it’s the same carb used on Honda’s. I think a new 13hp Predator is $350.

Same here. Predator 6.5 hp in place of old wornout 5 HP Briggs. Huge upgrade btw. It starts great in any weather, and it's quiet, as well as much more power.

The predator is a Honda clone, so I'd go the $100 chonda over the $400 Honda.

I replaced the Briggs with a Honda on mine. The Honda had a 1" shaft diameter so I had to buy a new end of the lovejoy connector. Also the mount for the hyd pump that mates the pump to the engine had to be changed because the original didn't match the bolt holes for the Honda.
    It was well worth it
