    That is a great piece of work. Good size log too, not gonna throw that over your shoulder and put it the back of your pickup. 7' tall maybe?

    There's a guy down the road a ways out here that makes stuff like that.

    One thing I've seen is most of them split pretty back after a few years. I think they carve them green.

    Every summer in Campbell River, they have a chainsaw carving contest. This link is for a quick carve session. Usually the competition is over a week and the results are displayed around town and then sold to raise money for charity.

    Just the pieces of wood that they start with is impressive, huge chunks of wood.
    I wonder if wood carving like this is ever brought to the county fairs and logging shows?
    I've only been to a few up my way and I've never seen any carving.

    Wow that bear is impressive! Don't see pieces that big every day. Would love to see it finished with a little torch work to accent all the fur.
