I have a small section of apple tree branch with a curve that fits my hand just right....drill a little undersized hole in it and tap in a file. With a smooth bark tree you can usually just peel the bark off with a little help from a utility knife.

Nice idea on the golf ball.

How about a decent sized cork from a wine bottle? I'm more inclined to have that on hand than golf balls.

I was in a pinch and used an old corn cob I found in the yard. Worked surprisingly well. But I do like the husqvarna one most.

The wooden handles. They don't make 'em, they just sell 'em.
I need to check my posts better.:)

I regularly find golf balls in my yard. Every once in a while an extremely errant one will hit my house.

If it came with a handle I'll use it. If not, a golf ball has a great feel to me. I can generally find them for $3 a dozen sold in egg cartoons at yard sales & flea markets.
