Some storms came through the area last night and blew some trees down. My neighbor had three on his property and asked if I knew who might want them, I said I knew who would come get them. Two hickory growing side by side and one willow oak. They were in a low place that hardly ever dries out and the roots were rotten.the cut on the right of the last picture my 16 inch bar would not go all the way across, probably about 18 inch at that point.
Possum grapes or virginia creeper A type of red oak with leaves that look like a willow leaf. I'd post a link but I'm on My ipad and can't figure out how to add a link. If you google it it will show some good pictures of it.
Nice score. Also curious about the amount of wood - looks like quite a bit. I personally love the whole tree - big rounds to split , smalls 6" leave unsplit for long burns, 2" for kindling. Noodle and chunk the crotches. Close to home - bonus.
A type of red oak with leaves that look like a willow leaf Forgot to add that it smells awful when green but makes some really good firewood.
What's better than a tree down, your neighbor wants you to take? Two trees down, your neighbor wants you to take :firepit: And then you get to play with the chainsaw and cut it up Nice score
Your neighbor hiring a tree service that removes the brush, cuts it to length and rolls it into your yard... Looks good Xj
Actually I've been reinfected. From 87 to 2000 lived in a house that wood heat was our only heat source, when we lived there I was able to cut on my dad's place or a neighbor down the road. I loved getting out in the woods and cutting, was so peaceful and satisfying. Now I've got the itch again.
