Cut down a cherry tree about as big as any cherry tree I’ve taken down before. 31” diameter where I fell it. Splits into 2 trunks. Ought to yield a lot of firewood
Nice one! I too love cherry. I have a few small rounds I've saved for smoking meats. Don't get it very often.
I swear I can smell that behemoth from New England One of my favorites to cook with, heat with, and it makes some nice woodworking stock as well.
That's a good sized Cherry for sure, nice drop too. Great wood for all the above stated reasons. Only drawbacks are the amount of brush & there's usually not a straight piece in the things. Got lots of them around here, & never pass one up.
Thanks ac! Got the one half of the top pretty well taken care of. Gonna start on the other half next, then the cutting should be all trunk pretty much all the way down. Lots of brush though, and cherry is Wierd in that it’ll shoot new branches off just about anywhere so there’s so much trimming just to clean off the firewood you want to take. Not enough trouble to make me pass on it either
Those trunk rounds’ll add up! I’ll let you know how much I get out of it. Cord and a half seems like a good guess
Slowly Biggest problem is any sand, snow, or ice at the intersections and she wants to slide If I brake too hard, so I take it pretty easy.
For sure I’ll bet there’s some pretty stuff on the inside. Come and get it and it’s yours I was surprised it never split over the years to be honest.
