My wife bought a book for me last Christmas. It's the devotional book written by Tony Dungy. It's called "Dare to be uncommon everyday". I've never read a devotional book before. Always thought it sounded somehow too religious for me. But I've been reading it every morning by the stove, with at least one dog at my feet and a cat on my lap. It's been a great start to each day. Very down to earth ways to apply scripture. He makes it an easy read by relating it to his coaching days and how he ran his teams.
Dungy grew up in the nearest bigger city to us. He’s always stayed involved in the community and returns to do speaking engagements and what not. A Godly man and a good way to start your day! Coffee for the soul
Very cool. From what I've read he really tries to lives a life anyone could be proud of. I'm planning a trip to Colorado next month to a conference where he and James Brown, the NFL announcer, will be speakers.
Will have to look that one up. I just bought his book "Uncommon" also , but I'm not letting myself start in on that until I finish the book about Jimmy Stewart's service in WW2. Wish Hollywood had more men and women like Jimmy.
Indeed. Because it's set up just to read one small page each day, it's easy to stick to reading it. I find myself looking forward to reading it each day after the morning chores are done.
I found this book by Mark Finley a very good devotional book. Solid Ground Shawn Boonstra had a good one as well. Authentic: Daily Devotional book by Shawn Boonstra they give you something to ponder through the day.
