Where they clear cut the entire place, then build houses 10’ apart, and plant the teeny dogwoods surrounded by mulch..

They had left a few large trees in the back of the unbuilt lots, but i notice they whacked them down the other day. I stopped and asked the foreman what they would do with them, he said a roll off... i asked what any of us would, and he was all about it.

Its 6 miles one way, and Big Green was all over it. I made two round trips and got all the cherry, but I did leave the tulip poplar.

Then I made the 1 mile trek to one of our farms and cut another super big cherry down.

I got 4 total trailer fulls while also making sure the grapple was full on each trip home.

From looking at the pile of logs in the yard Id say 3 cords easy if not 4+... hard to judge in log form.

It was my first time really putting the grapple to the test... things a beast! Big Green ate it up too... 20mph on the way there empty, and 20mph on the way back with all that weight, I love that machine!

Man. That’s a nice setup! I’d love to get my hands on some cherry some day. I’ve burned a little bit of cherry here. But it’s farm, cherry wood. From dead orchard trees. It burns incredibly hot and smells wonderful. But I think it’s different from your typical wild cherry variety. We don’t have wild cherry here. The winters are too hard.

Cherry is in my top 5. It’s a little hard on chains but it dries quick and burns great.

I ordered from Amazon, its called “sawhaul”. Its rather pricey for what it is, but its unique and of great quality.

The basket on the ROP’s came from amazon as well. It was ridiculously expensive, not of great quality either.... but an amazing idea and I didnt feel like jerry’ing something up.

Without the grapple I used to use the bucket as my basket... it wasnt good on those several mile trips though as its the most bounciest place on the machine when going wife open throttle. However, with the grapple you loose that all together, and I want to take fuel cans, bar oil, rags, chains, etc etc..... that basket does it. Its large enough to put two 5gal cans of fuel if needed.

Love cherry, nice score. Newbie here and I only started hoarding a few months ago ... I knew ZERO about tree ID and have since a decent amount. Well, the first time I went hoarding I stumbled on a huge black cherry score lol. I told my buddy "i think this looks like cherry" but of course had no clue until i processed everything and confirmed bark, etc. Beginner's luck!! Haven't found any since.

Love how you make the most of each load hauling with the trailer and the grapple!

    Sooner or later we will!

Funny story about that song when it was popular. I was working with my dad. He was doing something and i said "that aint working", dad replies "thats the way you do it". I burst out laughing and dad was clueless as to why. He was never fond of rock music.
    Yikes i just googled it...1985. Dang i feel old.:BrianK:
