I got a chance today to get some wood into the woodshed. There wasn’t much left in there after last year and I put about 15 cubic meters in there. There’s just under 20 meters in there now and I have another 15 or so outside still drying in our Aussie summer. It’s a mix of yellowbox and stringybark bark gum and some peppermint gum.

So you just bake your wood in an oven?;)
How does it dry? I can just imagine your shed being a kiln!

I’ve had the wood stacked outside from October 2019 for the yellowbox and the stringybark has been out for about 12 months.

Wow, looking good. I haven't heard as much about fires this year down your way; I guess people not being out and about as much has helped there. Most fires are started by carelessness (and sometimes on purpose).

We use metric here so all measured by cubic meters but for you it’s roughly 5.5 cords in the shed and about 4 more outside

No fires here so far as we had a wet winter and spring and even some good summer rain. Other side of the country is battling blazes in Western Australia with a lot of houses lost

Really ordinary summer here with cooler temps and a bit of rain. The next week and a bit temps only in the high 60s to high 70s currently got a thunderstorm going today with a fair drop of rain hence me getting the wood in yesterday. Feb is usually one of our hottest months but it is welcome after getting cooked last year

Turns out we had our coldest summer for 20 years and I would believe it A nice relief after all the fires from last year
