After the other builders decided not to return on our kitchen expansion, ur remodeling stood still for a while. found a guy who does great outdoor projects, and large construction as well. He enjoys these because he can be creative. he loves the farm and was excited to do this. an enclosed area will replace the little balcony, and an outdoor kitchen will be included below. Possibly host a FHC Get together this Fall?
The view will be nice, too. Really aggravating the previous owner who built everything put the shop right behind the house, block the view of the valley
Really nice looking home you have. Looking forward to seeing the expansion and I bet your happy to find a good contractor.
Be sure to plan way ahead especially for those who come from far away as they probably will need to take time off work. If you need suggestion I am willing to help as we've had 4 GTG here and I've attended over 10 other GTG's.
Actually we are enclosing it as a “Florida room” . It was have Eze Breeze windows, that can be opened in various ways for ventilation. We look forward to sleeping outside, in it. Ground level will be spacious with stonework and cement. The cost of lumber and other building materials are astronomical. No end in sight. funny thing is, I haven’t heard of landowners making big bucks on their timber sales. Like cattle ranching. Beef prices go up, it rarely affects the rancher.
Saturday, my brother in law visited from the flat part north of Indianapolis. He brought a friend with him, who had moved from New Hampshire. he said as he drove through the countryside, it made him homesick. The hills aren’t as high as home, but he really enjoyed coming.
Yeah, if you look at a similar “map” of Indiana, there is a sliver in the south central area, that actually has contour. From a little north of me to the Ohio river. Folks with some KY background even call the hills mountains, but you would scratch your head looking at what they called that. kinda fun the refer to the big hill behind the cabin as a mountain though.
EZ Breeze - excellent product. We have a 12x12 screen house. All walls are the 4 sliding vinyl panels. We've had them over 10yrs. Still nice amd clear. Best of luck with it!
That is looking great .. Built it into the house trim nice.. As you no it doesnt look like allot of pitch on the new room roof. Are the roofers going to do something extra on it?
when the head carpenter on the job took a look, he recommended doing that, so I think so. He also recommended continuing the lower roof line that you see on the kitchen bump-out, so it looks like it was all done at same time.
Looks like it's going to be a great space! All that newly covered area on the ground level will be useful too.
