Have a friend who was taking down an old maple too close to his house. Got another two or three loads when he's done bucking it up.
I do not think I have ever burned any maple here where I am located. Must be some good firewood from what I read.
I have a lot of maple on my property. Grows fast and dries fast. Have to watch it doesn't sit more than a year in my experience.
Looks good Wes. Lots of maple varieties around here so it makes into the firewood mix each year. It’s in the stove right now with some cherry. Splits easy, dries quick and has decent btu’s. If I keep it off the ground it stores pretty good too. But like others have said, don’t let it sit on the ground!
All my wood sits on 4x4's so rotting isn't really an issue. I burn a lot year round to include the fire bowl so not much wood of mine ever goes to waste.
Yep I am with you. Even if in rounds all my wood goes on pallets. To hard to come by to let it get punky.
I love all the Maples and Ill take it over just about anything, fast drying, easy splitting, good btus and coals.
