The one in the movie looks bigger. Around here, they are all invasive and not been here "that" long to get huge. They usually break and fall apart and get cut down before they could get that big.

I’ve gotten some sizable Osage Orange up here in PA. We had some blow downs near us on a golf course that had a 3 1/2 foot radius. ALTHOUGH...I will admit there tends to be a little more reddish color to the valleys in the bark.

I will echo previous thoughts on seeing firewood everywhere.

Blow downs, wood by the road I don't have the time to scrounge, trees blown into fields...the tree cutters chipping up precious cordwood...that big tree..."meh its pine", all those dead trees hit by gypsy moth the last 2 years...that I cant get to..

Looking at people's piles on their porch, judging their Piles, or flat out being critical of that cute pile they must use on their open hearth.....they're not real cutters....just one-chop-wonders due to the tree that fell on their house...they just like the "pioneering " look of cut wood in their yards (usually not well covered, and many times many years old and rotting away).

I have threatened the family more times with, think we can grab that on the way back? Or i wonder if the landowner would miss that? Or hey lets scout out this tree job on the way home (×2 today), or hey boss, this tree's gonna fall here "someone" should cut it down (it really does need to be trimmed or removed!).

I've scoffed in my heart at a fellows electric chainsaw....cutting a big tree with it, watching it crap after a few good cuts. Never openly critical...just encourage him To think about something a little bigger (without saying "AND MORE MANLY").

Scrounging has become a way of life.

That one needs to keep on growin. Looks healthy, not like the one I'm burnin now. A friend had one in his yard that was over 4' at the stump, but some of it was rotten, hollow and home to big black ants. My wife can't find the picks of the log pile left by the tree guy. I'll try to get a live pick before it was cut. It took 2 cases of beer to cut it to stove length.
