Nine foot "perimeter" ( which is most commonly used in two-dimensional geometry) if she means circumference, would be a 35 foot diameter tree. UNESCO should be calling. doh ! that's some bad math. 9 foot "perimeter" would be 3 foot dbh. my bad that's still pretty big probably not big enough for a World Heritage Site status. Maybe next time.
I have found for the most part that behind most of these ads or claims is an even bigger idiot feeding these poor people this bad intel. i.e. probably poor julies dad or brother, who’s never been wrong about anything, noticed the walnut tree in her yard and told her it was worth thousands of dollars as it stands and people would line up for the opportunity to pay for it. Well, poor Julie will find out soon enough how much the tree is worth.
I think a Black Walnut intervention is needed. Brad, Eric and Joe should head over there and explain to her that she’s mistaken over the value of the trees. Have a laugh and a crumpet with tea, then be on their merry way. It is the season of giving after all.
