Oh, very cool! The one I had years ago had a wire probe that needed to go through the wall, I never set it up.
I'd like a wireless one like they are talking about here, but I think the wicked cold will kill the batteries too quickly. Any thoughts?
Lithium batteries. This is the one I have La Crosse Technology C85845 I like it, but wish it had the wind speed sensor
It seems like the most popular brand is La Crosse Technology. Thanks all for your input. I just placed an order for one of them.
We had a couple of National Geographic weather stations but the wind destroyed the weather vane, the birds pooped in the rain gauge and the batteries would run out and it was located on a 25 ft pole. The wind gauge was nice when it was working. So we bought an Accu/Temp which is just a temperature In/Out and clock. We never use the clock. The batteries last quite awhile but then our temps don't get much below freezing. The sensor lives under cover on the north side of the house.
Have a couple of the wire probe ones....have yet to install....but, no batteries. Saw relatives use them for many years. Runnings store (TSC on steroids) had them. In the over-information age, less is becoming more. Sca
I have a small Accurite . Pretty basic. Has high/low outside temp, trending, inside temp and humidity. Also has icons for 24 hour weather prediction that is usually broadly accurate. Outside sender is under the eaves in the woodshed away from direct sun. No complaints with standard alkaline batteries, but no extreme temps here in western Washington State!
Sounds like you have the same Accurite, or at least very similar to mine - it is at least 3 years old
