I bought this cage thing from an estate sale. Wish I could find more! I have no idea what it came from. Do you know? In lieu of this, I have some wire cages from plastic totes but the first cage I speak of has much tighter spacing between the 'mesh.'

I have also seen various types of 'cages' in industrial usage. See second pic below... look kinda like that. I guess you just have to luck up and find one for sale or giveaway. I usually don't find free but I did luck up and find three totes recently that a farmer gave away.

I like to use these for uglies, ends, shorts. Where do you find these?

I'm not going to be much help, but that reminds me of a cage that goes around an air conditioner unit. Maybe a scrap yard would have something like that?

What are the dimensions? I've found that gaylords come in many form factors, depending on what's going into them.

The rounded corners certainly look like that, but I've never seen one that had all 4 sides like that.

It's about 3 ft to 3.5 ft all dimensions.

The 2nd pic looks great, too, but I have no idea what it is either. I do not own that one.

Those ones in the second picture sure look like gaylords for manufacturing. Pretty typical of that I've seen for certain materials.

The first one looks like a cage for a plastic tote. The other ones are parts baskets used in factories. I used to have some nice fold down ones I kept coal in, back in the 80’s

Seriously, those look perfect for nugget bins.

The correct question isn’t WHAT is the cage from, but WHEN. I think it’s a time traveler cage. Your future self gifted it to your current self so you can store your uglies/shorties in. In a couple years make sure to say thank you when get up in the morning :)
Looks to me like it could’ve come from an industrial laundry facility. Hard to say though, something like that has countless uses so maybe it’s just a generic cage that any number of industries would’ve utilized.

Doesn't really matter what it is from but what matters is how it will be used and does it work out good.

I lived in that cage the first 5 years of my life! If you know me you wouldn’t blame my parents! :rofl: :rofl: :thumbs:

If you want more buy some fencing and make your own.

Yes, livestock panels (wire fencing) will work, I have considered that and it seems a workable option. But it would be cheaper to just buy totes and remove the plastic vessel. I can buy totes for $20 and even got three free ones recently and the fence panels will cost over double that. The other negative about fence panels is they are not rigid like the totes or the items shown in the OP. Plus, the fence panels require labor to affix the panels together into a cube shape.

As for cheap, pallets made into a bin shape work.

Sometimes you can find reasonably priced fencing on CL.

That's a good idea. Have you thought about how you would tie them together? Cable ties are quick and easy but I don't know how long they would last. You could tie it with wire. Or those cut galvanized wire things that are used to crimp fencing to steel posts.

If I were near Shreveport I would be suspicious of the abandoned Western Electric plant as a source.
