Black rifle coffee's Murdered Out is my favorite. Through the week its normally folgers or Maxwell house, on weekends I'll drink some different stuff. Caribou coffee has some that I like also. Sometimes a diet dew instead of coffee, but not often
Not too particular as long as it's a dark roast coffee (black). Too many years of drinking military swill coffee so as long as it's strong, it works for me.
Mtn Dew is a local fav in these parts along with no teeth ( note the " Maine toothbrush" joke ). High number of denturists in Maine. Steve wins the daily gold star: " coronaed out". Who would have thot that a pandemic would make a run on toilet paper AND ammo. Hey, if I had that much coffee every day, the prostRate would be working overtime. Bad enough with the single cup of Starbucks French Roast. It kills the unwanted grass on the driveway.
Plain old maxwell house/ Folgers is good enough for me, although I have bought coffee straight from a grower/roaster in Costa Rica and gotten beans roasted just the way I like (light, real light so you can taste the coffee bean), but that's kinda pricey for these thrifty old Yankee bones. No chicory in my coffee please. I've cut (way) back to just one cup a day and I've found ( probably because I've cut out so much sugar from my diet) a glass of orange juice will give me a pretty good jolt in the morning and really don't need the coffee. Both is kinda one too many though unless they are rather small cups.
I cant handle caffeine anymore, so I switched to decaf. Folgers black silk is the best decaf that I have found yet.
I saw recently that caffeine really shouldn't be had first thing in the AM. Here's an older article stating the same. Why You Shouldn’t Drink Coffee In The Morning
It's not surprising that cortisol is "naturally" produced at meal times as it is a steroidal hormone that has stimulative effects including that of raising blood sugar levels. It's not surprising that the same "peak times" are those of when you are shoveling food and drink in your face. Are they also claiming people should not be eating food at "peak times" ? Have they done a study that changes eating times to see if the "natural" peak times also change ? Kind of a weird conclusion from a "data set" if you ask me. Anyone wanna guess how the insulin levels rise and fall during the day too ? A more logical conclusion from my limited knowledge of human physiology would conclude that THE BEST time for drinking caffienated and sweetened drinks would be AT MEALTIME as the meals themselves would absorb the caffeine and sugar and allow for a more controlled/slowed release of same into one's bloodstream keeping one's blood sugar and insulin levels from spiking. But what do I know.
Horkn I guess you haven't worked an 11 to 7 shift and stopped at the local watering hole for an after work beverage. I did that a couple of times when I was in the army and I was working that 11 to 7 shift. It didn't seem right.
Who is this policeman ? "Regarded" ? Many of us have had assignments where 24/7 was the time. And 0700 H was related to nothing. Paper mill crews here crowd the bars at 7 AM. What's next ? Water is not good for you ?
I really like McDonald's coffee too, we buy that brand K-cups for home use on those go to work mornings.
When I can't do caffeine , it will be time to give up the mortal coil. It is a needed drug, at home, in country, on backpack. You Bible experts: who said something like " Lord save me from celibacy, but not yet" ? Kind of like give up X.
No, I did work until midnight or 2 am while in college though. So no change from typical at that age.
