Got a message on facebook last night from a random person. Person proceeded to tell me that they heard I cut alot of firewood. I told them yes I did. They then sent me this picture and said come get it! High wind broke this big red oak in half back in March and he doesnt wanna have to mess with it! SCORE! He also said the picture does this tree no justice at all and that it is HUGE! IMG_2536.JPG

I love red oak. Right up there in the top 5 species that I love to split and sniff! And burn of course.......

That is a BIG tree. I wonder how long it's going to take to process. Whudduya gonna do with all the branches/twigs/etc? Chip it? Burn it? Leave it?

    My two favorite words! IMG_3110.JPG
In this case it was a factory giving away pallets.

Landowner said whatever I don’t cut and haul away he will push up with his tractor and burn it. Cut for 2 hours this morning and got a little over a cord if my guesstamation meter is working correctly. Pics to come. Still at least another cord to cord and a half left.

I have connections all over town. Most recent addition came out of a conversation with a nice seamstress who's husband had 7 acres timbered and would love someone to help themselves. This I did today. Even got mud on the tires of my new 2020 ranger. She's into it as much as I am! Hoard on!

I’m lucky. The guy that owns the woods across the road lets me clean up. Now his brother in law bought the section next to him, and I’ve got cutting rights in there. It was logged a couple years ago, and the previous owners wouldn’t let anyone in to cut the tops, now I’m cutting plenty of punky oak and hickory. There’s some good in it though.

I went wandering, or firewood hunting down a couple back roads near me. I finally found a tree service dump!!! There was 2 guys standing there talking, one was the owner, other was the only guy he let cut there so far. An older guy that just wants the smaller stuff, 16 inch and under. There had to be 20 oak logs at 24 inch plus, nice and straight too. Owner said, cut em up if you can. Why yes, I will. Love me some free big oak.

Not yet. Land owner wants to let nature take its course and for it to come down on its own. The first big wind storm we have it will surely break off. 90% of the middle of the stump is rotten already so its barely holding on.

Oh man! I get all giddy when I see a nice huge ol’ oak tree for the taking! Awesome that it found you. I always said it is a whole different level of hoarding when the wood finds you. Hoard on!!
