So i came across this old wood burner on Facebook. A lady was giving it away for free. I went and picked it up. She said 44 others had messaged her one after another after me. I have a new wood burner in my garage, so i won’t be using this one until I get my shop built. Can anyone tell me about this wood burner? It says, the earth stone on the front with the date of 1977. it appears to be in very good condition. I’m just trying to find out as much info as I can on it.
Don’t no anything about your stove. Where you able to find any info on it ? What part of Illinois are you located in ?
I found a Facebook group and several guys have the same stoves. They love them. They all said it will dump out some serious heat. But times 10-12 hours before it has to be filled again. I’m located in Springfield, Illinois. Yourself ?
The Earth Stove Company. Looks like a 101.They also made pellet stoves. In Oregon is where they were made.Lennox bought them out many years agnes like yours sell for 100-350 bucks.
I have nearly the same stove - I see some differences with my adjuster/vent on the backside. I bought a cabin this year and this Earth Stove was inside. I'm trying to "dial it in" because it takes forever to get a fire going and then when I do it nearly blows me out of the house. It seems to only get going when I load it up and get a big blaze going.... leave the door cracked for a bit and then close it with the vent halfway open... but then it is too much for my little 600 sq ft cabin. So, might sell and would hope to find what this might go for $ wise. I'd really like to know what the adjuster knob settings are as mine are unreadable. Obviously it opens and closes the vents but to know the exact workings would be nice. Can't find a manual anywhere.
Yep, I meant a "free" version of an online manual. I know I can pay for one and will do so if it comes to that.... but probably going to sell this thing as it's too much for my little place.
I’m about fifty miles south of Chicago (unfortunately). Well it sounds like you may have a good stove . Plus it was free. All I can say is find a place to use it and hook it up. Keep us posted.
Sounds like you just need to keep tuning and tweaking your procedure with the stove. Welcome to the forum.
they were typical "box" stoves, known for burning too hot. Some were actually made in my state(MT) just like lots of wood stoves, back in the day.(funny lots of people seem not to realize this). they went "catalytic",they were around that long. There is one version,I think by the 3rd owners of the company, that is actually very "pretty" appealing to most people.Earth soves, and a few others were also made her in Montana, under contract.
