Thanks guys. A friend and I rebuilt the crown about ten years ago. I was on the roof a few weeks back and noticed some cracks. I didn't want to have to haul buckets of concrete two stories again. Was excited when I found this @ Menards. Should be good for a couple years, and I'll recoat it.

That's what I used 2 years ago. I brushed the chimney a couple days ago and the crown still looked brand new. It's not cheap, but it's probably the best stuff out there. I highly recommend i this stuff. I got it on Amazon. Screenshot_20201016-133703(1).png

Now all you need to do is waterproof that masonry with some Siloxane...any brand will work. Sherwin Williams has it, as does Saver Systems. I doubt you find it at a box store. However, before you waterproof the outside masonry of the chimney, get some paint-n-peel from Saver Systems and paint it thick on that brick work...then peel it off. Will take the smoke and soot right off it making it look new, then waterproof.

If you can't buy it from Saver Systems, check a local to you fireplace and stove shop, or call Ernie over at Richmond Builder's Supply, Richmond, Indiana. I'm sure he'll take care of you. I am a repeat customer there. They make cleaner to remove efflorescence also.

Nice job. I used the Chimney RX brand, trowelable to redo mine last year.

I used the same stuff. Just checked my Amazon account and I ordered it in August of 2019. Still looks good.
