I was on the hunt for something to cut. taking a walk through my woods I spotted this. The large Cherry and Black Birch were close together and the tops were getting tangled in one another. I've been craving some BB, so I decided to go after that and try to see if the Cherry can be more free and get more sunlight. So I gave him as quick and as painless a death as I could with the 460 Magnum. Of course the tops were hung up, so I pulled it from the bottom with the Kioti and a chain. I marked the tree every 20" and started bucking It didn't take long to fill the 6' wide Kioti bucket. These were heavy rounds. Even though the biggest was only 17", they felt like they weighed as much as a much larger round should. Second bucket filled, still haven't cut any of the tops. Probably have at least another bucket there. The Cherry survived pretty decent. One branch that was already pretty dead got snapped a little. Should be able to get more sunlight now
Yeah. I emptied 8 totes into the basement between Sunday and Monday morning, and refilled 7 of them. I took this week off. Today I think was my last “wood” day. I want to “try” and relax at least a little. I don’t like sitting still though. I have some non cordwood projects I can do. I may do more this weekend though. I like even numbers
That itch to make firewood never seems to get scratched enough... I'm amazed at the pace some of you keep up.
You are correct. I just checked one of mine (unused yard decor!). Mine have pallet fork slots each direction. Guess a guy would have to lay them out 90* to get the same effect. Mystery solved.... At least with mine.
