Channeled my inner Italian for this design. Red Maple top, legs, drawer, and door. Drawer and door are inlaid with Cherry. Sides are Cherry. All trim is Wenge, Congo dense exotic hardwood. Dowels are Cherry on Cherry, and Black Walnut on Wenge. Finished with with 2 coats sanding sealer, 6-10 coats clear lacquer. Sanded to 1200 grit and sealed again with caranuba wax. It’s as close to glass smooth satin finish as I can get it. Approx 200 hrs. This is sort of a statement piece. I’ll probably never do this finish again, sanded the whole unit at least 10 times, working through the grits before, and then during finish process. Ciao baby.
Wow! That's not exactly firewood. Very pretty contrasting wood types. What's the inspiration for the table?
Well, I DID create some firewood in the making of this project. Maybe someday I’ll consider the difficulties in manufacture before I commit to a design Either I just wanted to use a triangle, or use the letter M, can’t remember which.
