interesting flyer, but am I missing something? Whats the PRICE? Its easy to take $25 off of something, but means nothing unless you know what the selling price is......now, I sell pellets, and do compete with TS, buuuut, geez, this seems like a way to snag customers cheaply without really committing to much (no price OR brand), as you get a 25% deposit, so, locked in, but 25% of what? As for the price match of identical items.......whats identical (esp if privately branded)?

    LW,
Our local has MWP in TSC bags for $239/ton. They also have some AWF for the same dime.

Brand will depend on location, But for the most part we are seeing TSC branded product, Which could be one of 5 different brands. UPC code will fish out which is the actual brand in the bag.

TS prices vary by location and by local competition. Here, they come out with a price, but when HD and Walmart come out with theirs, TSC will adjust to be competitive with them. Might have all three selling the same MWP. I'm disabled so getting them here is a huge consideration when I think about the overall price. Now that I have the harman stove, I don't need to be so fussy about what brand. I ran 5 or 6 brands through it since Feb. and they all did just fine. None were junk. Some high end and some "shoulder" season stuff. Never had the stove anywhere near the hi levels. I might have been good with the p61, but I wasn't taking a chance again.

Just got the same coupon in the mail today

Been looking for an excuse to stock up. It's good for up to 8 ton.

Last year they had Greene Golds! I would like to see 6-8 ton of those in my garage/basement. :)

Isn't the plural of "ton" tons? Or am I doing it wrong?

I don't know, it was an honest question. I grew up in a "Frenglish" speaking family and area. I'm hardly an expert in grammar.
Talking to my folks and most you "anglais" wouldn't understand it. Haha.

Around here Tractor supply typically raises prices in the summer, so it sorta cancels out the $25 off coupon. At the end of the season last year they were selling Somersets for $200/ton. Now they're $229/ ton. I have 5 tons sitting in the shed, and would like another ton at least, but it will wait till prices come back down closer to the burn season.

I know for a fact that Somerset have raised their prices this season... along with many others...so seeing higher prices this season will probably be the norm and wouldn't be surprised if most of the "cheaper" pricing is $10-$15 on average more than last year, even as we get close too, or even into burning season. My guess is the boxes will be $10 more this year over last......and its "tons" as in short tons......."tonnes" is metric...or long ton....just sayin.

Box stores have raised prices on pellets $10/ton for the last 3 seasons or so. Its a good bet that the going price will be $229/ton in new england!

I plan to have at least one ton in before the TSC sale ends. $239.99 minus the $25 coupon seems like a good deal for the start of the season. Wish I had room for more, I'd just get 3 tons and be done with it!!!! I might go with 2 of CTpellets $229/ton Maine Choice and have them deliver as late as possible. Wrap em tight and leave em out in the driveway until I can haul em in, But that does take all the fun out of a good pellet hunt. Not sure I wanna chance a mid to late season pellet scarceness like last season. Just to save $10 bucks a ton!!

I might try putting a few tons in the garage, then just go get them once a week in the van. They. Will put them in my van and I can back right up to the porch and unload there. The stash in the garage can be my "go to" stash if we have repeat of last Feb. It is easier to unload the van than it it is to pull them in from the garage. HD give the same price for by the bag or ton. Plus veteran discount. Last year I bought five tons but the discount was only on two tons.

Savemoney, did you receive the flyer in the mail or was it in the newspaper? I am curious if you need that to get the $ off or if it is just part of the early buy program.

Came in the mail like a huge postcard. I think you will find it is good at most TSC. Just give them a call.

Kind of like the local Shaw's sales. They increase the price during a sale to say you saved more money....

I haven't received the coupon yet either, so I stopped at the local TSC over the weekend and asked about it. They said the price with coupon is $224.50 per ton and the sale is good July 7 thru 27. There is no need to have the coupon in hand when you make the purchase, so don't worry if you didn't receive one.

Thanks Savemoney and ttdberg! I noticed TSC price matches local stores and I found a local grain store that sells Somersets for $219/ton. I am going to see if they will price match and then take off the $25/ton coupon. If so I plan to order about 6 tons and squeeze them into our utility room and garage. First year with the insert so I really do not have an idea of how much we will need for the season.

So I went to TSC today and did not ask about a price match when I saw the end price of $199.50/ton at the checkout. I felt silly asking them to price match $219. Anyway, I ended up ordering 6 tons and 1 to grow on. haha. I figure can fit the extra ton in different spots through out the house. I figure plan for the worst and hope for the best. I ran out of wood this past winter and had to dip into oil and electric for heat. Boo!

Depending on the size of your house and insulation, etc, you should be more than fine with 6 tons. I'm a few hours north of you, and burned about 5 tons last year to heat a 2400 ft, somewhat leaky house.

On the other hand..."I have too many pellets" is a word that's NEVER came out of a pellethead's mouth, especially if they're Somersets.
