Took about 10 minutes to find this Cherry this morning.

Yep, those aren't the easiest leaners to drop. Be careful.

Nice cheery. Fairly straight and not all branches. What does the walking refer too?

I'm assuming method of cut. That's what I call it also, start at the butt end & take off a piece at a time & "walk" the tree down.

Was that standing dead, or did you get a rogue storm there?

It was a quiet late afternoon/evening here.

Ok, never heard it called that. I can see why though. I’ve done plenty. Wasnt very good with my aim when I started out :)
I actually hung them so well I would walk the cut until they were just about hanging straight again. Then put my shoulder too them and run. Sometimes that worked.

MikeInMa , it was quiet. This one just gave up at the rootball. It was its time I guess.

And amateur cutter has it right, or at least how I do it when needed. Measure 3 or 4 stove length and make a cut or cuts on the compression side and then finish on the tension.
Can get tricky the more vertical it becomes.

Nice. Whats the DBH? The sound is probably music to your ears even though you didnt hear it. Ive heard them drop in our woods too. Couple times in storms.

Duh! Sorry Brad, I didn't read "the" in the sentence. Be patient with me, I get marginally smarter with more coffee.

Oh come on Adam. You've no doubt done dozens of those. Just be careful and they come down easy.

We're talking about height, not size.

I thought diameter was the question...
I’d say about two 6 packs of MTN Dew, each sort of organized into a circle...
Oh wait, we’re talking about a tree.

Do you have a machine that you could hook a chain or rope to the butt end and pull it away from the hang up after cutting the root ball off? I’ve done bottom up cuts a few stovelengths at a time and dropped it so it gets straighter and straighter. Pulling it out would be a lot safer and easier. Doesn’t look real big. A garden tractor or 4 wheeler would probably do it.

It doesn't take much to yank these down once the root ball is free. Your Polaris 500 would do the job without breaking a sweat.

Breast height Eric. Think height... Well, one has to wonder about weight too...
