Looks like its gonna be a while. The transformer/fuse left out the magic smoke.
Called the power company and they told me the power was back on...
    Ummm, no.

Was just a fuse. Had a 50 amp for 3 houses. They put a smaller (40 amp) in.
    All better

They had a 50, it blew, so they put a 40 in? Sounds to me like the guy wants to come back out this afternoon.

Maybe? At least there's power at the TurboDiesel house until the proper fuse can be located.

I heard them talking and one said there's a 50 amp fuse for only three houses so he wasn't going to put a 50 back in.
I don't know exactly what that means. It's a 7200 volt line about 800 ft feeding 4 transformers. (3 houses and my garage has a separate service)

Which side of the transformer is fused at 40 Amps?
If it is fused on the primary side a 40 amp fuse makes 1309 amps available for a 220v house service.

Sometimes they just put a penny in if they don’t have the right fuse.

1309 / 3 houses and a shop...so yeah, plenty. What gets me is why the 50 blew?! Hope it was just an old rotten fuse.
