Splitting wood yesterday, got distracted and got bit by the splitter. 8 stitches later and a broken finger tip. Medical term is open fracture of tuft of distal phalanx of finger.

PA said it was basically an amputation, but didn't shear the tip off. didn't really hurt, it happened so fast. On hold right now trying to get an appt with a hand surgeon to see if they will need to pin the tip of the finger.
Hand is still numb from the blocker they used yesterday, so not feeling a thing.

Lesson learned. Split in short sessions, so you don't get tired and distracted...

Only takes a second for an accident to occur.

Best of luck with the surgeon and recovery

Great advice. I find after a half hour or so I can get complacent. Hope for a speedy recovery.

    Ouch !

Yeah, Tired and/or distracted will getcha every time. Especially with a repetitive, monotonous chore.
I've had a few close calls with gloves getting the worst of it fortunately.

Hope this comes out okay Joe. Glad you are not in pain.

Definitely tired and/or distracted are the big causes of many accidents.

I guess we could say it could be worse but man that’s bad enough. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Ouch man! That might tingle a little bit if you flip it up too fast at all the feral rioters.

Yep that finger tip definitely looks a little out of place. Ouch.

Very seldom do you get hurt doing something that you know you’ll get hurt. It’s almost always the commonplace actions that you become complacent and get bit.

Yikes. X ray says it all. Hit my thumb with the ax years back. Nasty nail injury. It only takes a second. Heal up fast.

Can't like this! Hope you heal quick with no lingering effects. I am in the high risk group because tired and distracted is my normal state!
