He's a Lab/Dane mix, the vets guess. Here, he's hauling limbs and stacking them in a bucking rack, where I cut them to length. Him's a good boy.
Try one of those foam rubber Stall Mats like they sell at Tractor Supply or just a pile of hay/straw. Put a heater there he's likely to move to another spot. My Siberian Husky/Wolf mix would jump up on the 4.5' above ground pool and sleep on the ice. Couldn't get him in the house during the winter for nothin. He must be close, keeps coming into my head lately.
This was Guinness, guarding the stacks for me. He was found emaciated and beaten half to death, roaming the streets of the Bronx. Then adopted and put out again by two "professional dog trainers" that couldn't handle him. Took a lot to restore that poor dog. Took a piece of me with him when he went to Valhalla.
Nowdays Kane is on Firewood patrol. He'll carry splits into the house but has a bit of trouble seeing them go in the stove.
My boy was a puppy, found wandering the streets. The young women had an apartment, and couldn't keep him, luckily for us. He had a couple issues already, at his young age, but if you put in the work, you get a fine dog in the end. I've thought ahead to what it will be like to lose him, and I rue the day.. I guess he doesn't care that showing bare nipple on this site is a violation of forum rules.
Here's one of my guys. He won't be helping out in the woods for a long while. Tore his ACL this weekend and needs surgery.
That sucks. Go for the TPLO surgery and weight loss, he looks like he could use to lose some, helps a Lot with the stress on the knee.
Thats the route we're going. Goodbye log splitter....for a little while. He needs to go on a diet but strangely he gets less food than our lab, who is skinny and older. They both get plenty of exercise. He's only 2.5 and gets plenty of exercise. He has a definite waist line and is not a barrel... yet. I can still feel his ribs, but thats getting harder. Both my dogs work my wife over for treats.
My buddy got an English chocolate lab.. definitely a bigger girl but literally goes on 2 .. 5 mile hikes a day. She is 2.5 also my shepherd who everyone says is great shape needs a 2 day break after 1 some builds are lineman.. some are receiver still a gorgeous dog
