First, got to get rid of the tulip branch in my way. Took it home. Need shoulder wood too.

Then there’s 4 ironwood sticks the tulip crushed. Might as well bring them home too. I’ll chop them up and have an ironwood night when it gets cold someday.

Finally get backed into the hickory.

Stick #1 . Uh it’s heavy wood. I could tell.

Stck #2. Everything is going well. While it’s uphill out of that area it’s not steep enough to matter much.

Stick #3 I’m done for the day ;) The dog is snoring already.

Sure was. Think we’re gonna go from winter to summer in one week.
Sure beats loading and unloading my old trailer. Still I’m whooped LOL

I really like seeing the log arch in action, they are slick tools. Enjoy the pictures of your equipment and cutting environment.

Nice haul! Is that a homemade log arch?

Homemade for sure. I didn’t make it tho. I put the electric winch on it. Few other mods. Basically anything that is rusty I did :). Never bothered painting my mods.

Either a hickory or blue Beech nut that fell on a splinter and stuck there LOL. Things you don’t see everyday.
Back down to the hickory spot today. Whenever I bring a Stihl into the woods without a Husky backup the Stihl craps out. Today was no different. Right off the bat the 361 wouldn’t start. Flooded without a burp. Been using it everyday for two weeks but it needs a friend I guess.
Back home to get the 372 and spare 550 which hasn’t been used since August. Both fired right up.

knocked down the stump with ring shake. Then hacked the other trunk off the football. Hacked I did because all the broken shards were twisting in all directions. Took two saws to whack through it. I’ve noticed hickory with shatter cracks will grab a chain quicker than other trees :)

Because it’s such a pain to navigate backwards all the way into that hole I decided to pull all the furthest pieces closer. Long pulls on an arch and atv combo are a PIA. Nice to have the ability but the further away it is the more it would rather drag the vehicle than the log. Might use the front winch to tie off some day but so far I’ve avoided it.

only got two home today. Had hoped to finish with the arch. Oh well.
