Cut this ash tree down Saturday and got after it today. Counted my 16" rounds and came up with 39.99 feet. Got 2 buckets of limb wood too. Noodled the whole log to give my back a break. Ready for some splitter action. Sorry Brad.
I’m impressed. Fantastic felling skills that you got it to drop directly on those rounds to elevate it.
Just once I’d like to be able to process a long straight tree like that. Ok probably more than once but it would be so nice. After all the elms I do, I could probably do that one blindfolded
Nice score I could go for some ash on the racks for next year. If you need a cutting partner let me know. I'll bring one of my hacked up square chains for you to try .
little ash here, little ash there, a little ash everywhere! Sounds like the FHC polka! im not picky about my ash size.
I don't feel gassy, but I've been dropping a lot of ash recently, and will be dropping a lot of ash because of EAB. Funny, but the more ash I drop, the less natural gas I'll be using... Nice work farmer steve !
Just to keep you in locust scounge mode I went out and cut this bucket full before the rain gets here this morning. Most of it was a blow down but up off the ground and dry.
That surely is a beautiful ash to be working on but I certainly would not be noodling it. Ash splits way too easy for that.
It does but with 2 fractured vertebrae and a bum shoulder I gotta go easy. The halves were stihl 50+lbs. Plus runnin the 462 is fun.
I love it! I dont care what the other members say about you Steve, you're a good man! (I think it was mostly the Husky guys) All kidding aside, if i pull locust thats buried with leaves and debris, will the wood be just as good as the stuff you pictured and what ive been cutting? Where i scored that one log i found some other locust cutting remnents almost fully buried. Look like theyve been there for years. Frozen schmutz and leaves on them so i didnt take...for now.
