I have a 5 year old garage door opener with two remote controls. I have replaced the batteries in both. Both remotes will open the door from down the street. Neither one will close the door unless you hold the remote out of the car window, 10 feet away from the door. Very frustrating. Any ideas other than set it on fire and buy a new one?
Cotton swab with a little rubbing alcohol on both remotes and receiver eye. Dust dirt etc clogs them..
Just need to top them off with some reverse juice? Gary If the opener has a wire hanging down for the antenna maybe try putting that in a different position?
More than likely it is made by Chamberlin? If so they have really good customer service! I have had to call them a couple of times! Gary
This definitely affects my liftmaster. When I put an LED bulb in the opener itself. But not the chamberlain in the next bay Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So it's you doing that, huh lukem ? My dang doors have been opening and closing unexpectedly at the most unusual times! Knock it off, please! Noticed the same thing here with one opener. I can be 2 blocks away and the door will open with the remote. But, try closing it and you have to be in the immediate area.
Further reading suggests that there low interference LED bulbs out there. I'm going to give them a shot.
Still having troubles with the remote closing command? At one point within the last couple of years, the door stopped closing. One of the electric eyes was ever so slightly out of alignment. But not related to remote issue like yours.
Or just stick with incandescent bulbs...they aren't on enough to use much power...but I suppose once those are no longer made one will need to know about low interference LED bulbs...
They are on a lot in my garage for extra light in the winter, and the door is open a lot in the summer with kids and dogs constantly tripping the sensors that turns on the lights. The LEDs are worth the spend.
