In my spare time at the shack I enjoy target, run and gun, and cqb with a group of targets. We have amongst us ex military, hunters, and police officers. Makes for a fun time.

Stag arms has a great left handers model. I looked at the model 2T. Nice weapon. Reasonably priced

What is your opinion on the MR-1 Benelli? Almost pulled the trigger on one pre CT shooting, then they went nuts on cost. Seems things are calming down though 223 ammo still a problem cost wise.

    Benelli MR1

    Description

The Benelli MR1 is a semi-automatic tactical rifle chambered in .223 Rem. or 5.56 NATO.The MR1 uses an auto-regulating gas operated system (ARGO) modified from Benelli’s M4 or M1014 semi-automatic shotgun. (It’s actually almost identical to the Beretta RX4 Storm). ARGO directs gas onto a piston, which drives the bolt back, whereas other gas operated systems direct gas into a tube on the bolt. Therefore, gas won’t expel inside the receiver, it has fewer operating parts and fewer components to clean. The MR1’s sights use a military style aperture allowing shooters to adjust for windage and elevation. Additional sights can be mounted to its Picatinny rail. It comes standard with a 5-round magazine, but it can use 30-round M16 magazines. Benelli recommends the MR1 for military use and home protection.

It seems to be a simpler unit. Prices have dropped, I typically buy from natchezss.com

I own the R-1 in 30-06 caliber. It is a very smooth shooting gun that does not use gas powered ejection. I will check you link for pricing. Thanks.

I shot a lot of .45cal as a kid. Now, I just own guns for self defense. Nothing fancy...a .22 pistol, .380 pistol, and a 12 gauge.

I encourage all ownership of firearms. Afterall, I know the true purpose of the 2nd amendment. And it wasn't about deer hunting (self edit)

I have a DPMS Panther (AR-15) pre-ban that I bought from the Dallas SWAT. They said it had a bad ejector, but all it needed was a D-Ring. I also have a custom model 1911 (.45cal), and a British Enfield .303. Photos someplace on my system here, I will have to dig them up and post them.

I have done a lot of training at a place called Front Sight in Pahrump, NV. My brother and I also set up tactical training courses out in some quarries in the mountains near here.

I am with you. If I had bought the MR-1 I would have sold it and taken the profit. Same reason I stopped looking when the chit was in the fan.

I used to shoot Service Match Competion with .308 Garands and M1As. I'm planning on building up a new 6.5mm AR to take it to the next level. Always been a fan of that caliber ........ rifle hunt deer with a M38 Husqvarna Swedish Mauser.
