Didnt see the follow up thread. Oh well. That stinks. I understand your "relief". Youve seen the trunks ive come across down here and most of them i only take the primo stuff and dont commit to the whole thing.

    How unfortunate. Life happens.

If you haven't already, chat up the asplundh crew. They might let you know where they've been, and going next.

This is where an electric saw comes in handy; a whole lot less noise.

I guess I should have read the whole thread. That sucks to have it pulled out from under you just as you got started. I hope you at least took the wood you processed. I got cheated out of a score myself and it was with my sister; and I lost the wood that I had helped to process and I stacked. I got rather upset about that one but part of the problem is that I don't have a truck. I really need a truck when it comes to firewood and not a Buick LeSabre.

Happens to the best of us. At least she didn’t put too much time or effort in. One time me and my brother got permission to clean up the edges of a field. Spent all day cutting, went back next day to retrieve the rounds and they were all gone. Probably 3-4 cords of wood. Worst part is it was my uncles land. Come to find out it was my cousins (his sons) who found out about it, got jealous, and came the first afternoon after we left and took it all. When confronted, they laughed and said it was there land so too bad.

We wanted to, but didn’t. Lesson learned though, always take what you cut the same day. Even if you think it’s safe and out of site. This field wasn’t visible from the road, which helped us figure out who did it. These cousins have always been a**holes

I cant imagine that ANYONE that lives that close to you could possibly underestimate you when it comes to firewood.

Well the day was saved in a beautiful and wondrous way, when stuckinthemuck showed up on my doorstep, FHC mug in hand, ready to cut. When I told him I lost the maple score, he asked, what else you got? So he went to town on my wood from WeldrDave's land, and three tanks of gas later, we did this: IMG_20191213_36592.jpg IMG_20191213_53173.jpg
I haven't measured it out yet, but he cut well over a cord. Under the pine tree looks like this now: IMG_20191213_44483.jpg
I'm just amazed how FHC'ers just show up when needed, ready to work! This puts me way ahead with my winter work. Thank you again Mr. stuckinthemuck ! No pics of the gentleman himself because he's shy of social media, I can respect that.

I guess that means that it never happened!!! Glad we could get some work done. By the way, the stuff down the street is another red maple. Let me know if you can talk ‘em into giving you that one and I’ll come back with the big saw....

It is getting harder and harder to find a man whose word is his bond. Truly sorry Midwinter! On the other hand, stuckinthemuck came along and the two of you accomplished a lot of firewood anyway. A friend indeed!
