I have been using my x27 to split everything that comes my way. I have also had my eye on the isocore. I went ahead and got it and I am looking forward to using it.

Here is one reason I decided to buy it sooner than later. Went for a far away shot at first to get the old snow plow in the picture for scale and it drops down that hill a long ways as well.

I also had to walk up and down it to appease my inner child.

That will be some fun! How far away is it from where you process? Or will you split it out in the woods?

I hope to at least quarter it all out there. It is at my parents place so we can cut it up and pull the pieces on the side of the hill up to cut on level ground. I am really looking forward to Christmas vacation just to be out there.

The Isocore does look like a pretty well built maul. I like the guard on the shaft to help prevent breaking but I have not brought myself to spring for one yet.

I haven't used mine a lot yet, but it has shown itself to be a Big improvement over the old maul I have.

I have really grown to appreciate the Quality of Fiskars Choppin thangs:)

I have the IsoCore Maul, an X27, a couple of the Hatchets, an X7, and the similar all black 14", plus an X15 Chopping Axe, that I mistakenly ordered instead of an X11 Splitting Axe, my mistake, so I didn't return it, they sent what I ORDERED, but it has been handy for breaking down splits, when I need some smaller wood, so I'm Happy keeping it around, and Stihl plan on ordering an X11 Splitting Axe as well.

I also had Madsen's in Centralia,WA order me a 28" Fiskars Hookaroon, another tool, I wasn't familiar with, before joining the forums, and guys really talked up the utility of a Hookaroon, and the Fiskars got several Glowing Recommendations, and I got some Madsen's Gift Certificates for Christmas, so I gave them a call, they didn't have any, but could order me one, and are going to call me when it comes in:yes:

Shhh, my Wife is getting a 14" Hatchet and a bunch of Fiskars Gardening tools, in a week and a half or so, for her Birthday. She really enjoys working in the yard, and the Fiskars tools are much better quality than what she has been using.

You’ll like that Isocore. I got one under the tree and used it for first time today - yea- boy it packs a wallop! Stuff my D27 bounces off of, BAM the Isocore shows it who’s the boss.

For those thinking about getting any of the Fiskars Axes, I Love mine so far, but make sure that you KNOW which you are getting. Fiskars has Both SPLITTING Axes, and CHOPPING Axes, they are similar, but different and for different uses.

Many use the term "Chopping" for splitting (Guilty as Charged, Myself) but they really are two different activities, SPLITTING,:axe: is as it implies, turning Rounds into Splits, Chopping is the act of Chopping such as Falling:tree: with an Axe, basically a Cross Cut type of cutting

Anyone guess yet, how Husky Man learned the Difference:whistle:.........................................Yep, I ordered an X15 CHOPPING Axe, when I meant to order an X11 SPLITTING Axe:picard:
My Mistake, so I kept it.

The cutting edges are similar/the same? but behind the cutting edge the thickens much quicker to help splitting, the Chopping Axes, the heads are narrower throughout the length of the head.

So Far, I have been Very Happy with all my Fiskars Implements, and Hopefully after reading this some may avoid buying the wrong tool like I did.
