I’ve been selling firewood as a hobby the past few years. Not selling a lot, but enough to offset some of the costs of runn8ng the saws. I had a pretty good pile of rounds and just added them to my for sale ad at $20 less per cord than split wood. I was surprised when 4 out of the last five cord I’ve sold were the rounds. Well worth $20 a cord for me not to have to split. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
This wood has some punk mixed in so I’ve been getting $140 cord for the split. I’ve been up front about the quality and also letting folks kind of pick through as we load. Seems to be locals selling for $150-$200 cord depending on species. Mine is mostly Alder with some Fir and Maple mixed. Fir seems to be selling for the higher end of the spectrum. Up the road in Portland, the price is quite a bit higher. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Wow, in Southeastern PA I have the going price for split wood is around $200. I have seen prices as high as $300 with delivery. Makes it hard to buy rounds and logs with that much profit
In years past, I've sold some cords of rounds for $20 less than cords of split and was surprised at how fast they went. As you said Reloader, well worth the $$.
Around here people advertise a "rik" of firewood for sale. When I've called and asked how much that was they'd say, "Oh about a pickup load".
$20 off doesn't seem like much of a bargain considering the work involved making splits. Buyers don't own a saw but enjoy a little hand splitting action ?
My guys who bought it that way all looked at it like getting a little exercise. This is in the burbs with most of them having some sort of desk job. Made perfect sense to me.
I personally would sell rounds all day long for $20.00/cord less. Saves a crap ton of time not splitting them.
If they buy ahead & enjoy the work out splitting, why not? I have no issue selling that way as long as people know what they're getting. I sure woukdn't sell rounds as seasoned. I actually use the word dry.
People pay to throw a hatchet and call it axe throwing. I think it’s ridiculous, and wonder if people that pay almost full price for rounds are one and the same.
I sold a guy a cord of cherry rounds that were over a year old. His plan was to split and burn. When I dumped them he looked at me with a straight face and said I love popping cherry as he pointed to his axe. I started laughing and he started stuttering. It was hilarious
