This is my mower and my generator. Searching for the oil specs once is enough. My vehicles have a maintenance notebook in the glovebox and on page 1, I write the oil weight, capacity, and the size of the drain bolt.
I keep notes on my phone doing the same. I also record filter #’s etc Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The place I work at writes the service dates with a paint pen under the hood of all their truck I’ll snap a pic when I get a chance
This is the first year I have written the oil change date on my generators. I can't remember when I did it anymore. And just remembering spring doesn't work anymore. Cause I may get busy in the spring and not get to the annual oil changes I generally do then. Then come summer I forget if I did it this spring or last? So I decided to tape it on there. I also need to write the capacity, which would help, but most I just judge what came out and fill till the right level. My Coleman generator has the older style Briggs cap that you just fill till full. The Honda clone Genny has a stick. I have written oil weights on mowers as well. I made a notepad file a few weeks ago with all the different weights of oil for all the different small engines I have around here. I got all the manuals out and filled it in using those. Click, click, click and the mystery is solved. I like your method too blacktail.
That works perfect for engines with filters esp visible filters. But my generators don't have filters. Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
I’ll paint pen info on fan shroud of vehicles and a massive school chalkboard for filter #s , last oil change , plug size and what filter wrench . That way I can grab everything I need before crawling under .
