Yea no real contractor will do it for $65 or whatever, you have to find a guy that works for one or someone that someone else knows that will run buy after their day job and do it in 15 mins and be gone. I agree around here I probably would have a hard time too, but near a bigger city or town where those type workers are all over you could probably find it.

I am not saying the guy is going to run right out that day for $50. If you know anyone that knows someone it can be done quicker than it would take to drive to you. Usually around here, it is a guy borrowing a tool from the shop overnight to drill the hole for a few bucks and a case of beer. In my area we probably have 20-30 granite companies within 30-45 mins from me, of course those workers could be living within that same range in any direction.

You can also try and find some tile guys as the hole saws are basically the same for hard porcelain tiles or marble, same deal, catch a guy on his way home.

You will have more than probably $100 in buying a diamond hole saw, you will likely burn it up and possibly burn up your standard drill making the hole plus the dust everywhere. The router would work, but you have nowhere near the room at the sink to fit the router base against the back wall (I am assuming your sink is not in an island). I couldn't imagine how many of those dremel bits you would go through as well.

I hate when the installers drill a smaller hole for the soap dispenser, it just turns into a cluster like this down the road for everyone involved instead of just doing the standard 1 3/8- 1/2" hole in the first place.

The changing of your shower valve, I can absolutely see $100 trip charge, especially if the guy doesn't have the new one to put in on the spot and would be coming back. PS I don't know what new valve you went with, but all the ones I sell can be rebuilt through the front and barring a cracked valve body (not sure how it could happen other than freezing) you would never need to replace the valve as the trims are interchangeable on the outside.

Well I couldn’t find anybody to come out for what I felt was a reasonable price so today I made time for this job. A dremel 200 and 3 rotozip bits got the job done for 22$. It was slow and dusty.

We’ll see how long it takes Mrs. warner to notice it’s there.... 02476DE1-9C55-4E6C-9223-65A617427DBB.jpeg

I've been doing almost the same, but only with DeWalt router. It's made it pretty fast and there was not need to cool it down.

They have produced a lot of routers, but one of the most powerful trim router, which I've been testing, is model DeWalt DWP611. It's highly ergonomic in design, and what I like really much is that it comes with spindle lock which 12 levels. It makes wood processing really easy thing, as well as processing of any other materials, which should be soft of course, not alike metal.
