The construction is all post and beam, which is exposed in a few places inside. These are later renovation changes as you would never see exposed beams after the colonial age (evidences by the rough finish). In the 1600s beams would have been exposed but they where planes smooth and adorned with decorative mouldings.

I visited an old two storey house locally where the upper floor joists were exposed in the lower floor. The floor joists had a decorated edged cut into the joist. I found that very interesting at the time; the house was a ballooned framed house.
