This whole WW issue has me really PI$$ED off! I donate out of my pay through CFC to the WW project. I just saw where this scam and over indulgence of funds went into the heads pockets. These son of a B!TC#ES better get hammered by the law and have to pay every nickel back!
Have seen a news story here too about the extravagant expenditures WW has spent since their latest CEO took over. Not cool...
News indicates that 60% of donated funds goes to the Vets. The rest is Administration of the funds. There are two big wigs that have been fired for misuse of these funds. There are other organizations that see that 90% goes to the Vets. You all can chose to whom you want to give to. But look the organizations up first. A word about the VA. I use the services of our local VA. I used to work there. They have been very generous to me and have helped me tremendously. I did use the help of the DAV for their assistance in getting my disability processed. I had a positive experience with them.
ABC just did a big story about 2 of the head guys at WW being indicted... lots of money missing and mis-spent. Sad... the vets who helped them out over the years with all of the PR stuff, and the vets just needing help... sure deserve a lot better than this.
This WWP story is disheartening and disgusting.... Thanks you guys for putting it up for us to read, I somehow missed the news of these developments.....
I've given to them in the past, but I won't ever again. 40% waste is horrible. They said they spent $250,000 on candy and soda. This is atrocious.
I would guess that WWP started out as a genuine, honest and caring group that did provide our veterans with much needed help. Sadly, the latest CEO didn't have the health and well being of others in mind. It looks like he will get what he deserves after this investigation. I hope the organization is able to get past this and get back to serving our heroes.
These two A$$ clowns got greedy, saw money pouring in from the "HEARTS" of caring folks and took advantage of it! I'm not a violent man but I could open up a "WHOLE" can of whoooooop A$$ on those two! My stomach has turned, I hope they somehow get prosecuted.
The first time I saw a WWP commercial, it laid on the guilt about returning vets with disabilities that are just "discarded and forgotten", you know, really playing up the guilt and shame thing. It was at that time that I pointed out anyone with a disability or service connected condition will be taken care of (for life in most circumstances) by the VA. I wonder if someone schemed up an organization where they could prey on the concern (pity?) of the public and ask for donations to help out these recent service connected vets (only) but at the same time to line their own pockets?? As some of you that have "been around for awhile" will remember, it is only in recent years that veteran appreciation has become socially acceptable or fashionable.......
When I think of vets, I go back all the way to the first vets. The men AND boys that were barefoot that winter in Valley Forge serving under General Washington and the Marquis De Lafayette. Everything we have is from them and all who served after. And these clowns spend a quarter million on candy? They should be publicly whipped in the town square.
