I hope everyone has big plans this weekend whether it's work or play. If the good Lord is willing, I'll bow hunt from daylight til 10 or so and then firewood duties for the rest of the day. Be safe out there
Headed to Lenard Woods with the kids; basically a logging museum from the 1790's, though they also have a Steam Lombard Log Hauler that is in operating condition.
I plan to stack the remaining 6-8 cords of splits in the wood shed. I then plan to start cutting up the balance of 17-18-19 logs that I have stacked in the woods. We shall see what the wife distracts me with also.
military weekend..ehhhh lol have 5 trees laying on the ground that need to be split too. Never enough time
My car threw a couple check engine codes this week so I've got to get that sorted out. Also a wedding to go to. It's supposed to rain all weekend but Monday is supposed to be nice, I'm thinking about taking that day off to top cover my stacks for this winter and start splitting the wood for 2018/19 since it's finally cooled down some.
My driveway is crammed full of ash rounds and chips. Got another full dumper dropped off last Saturday of more ash rounds. Though I do love my maul, this pile would disappear more quickly with a splitter. I prefer to split off my landing, aka driveway, but might need to hump these rounds to the back yard just to tidy up out front. Some people in my neighborhood might not appreciate Mount Ash-more like I do.
I'll be doing splitting duties, looking at a couple tree jobs, and playing around fabricating the custom shroud for my Pioneer RA saw project...... And I'll definitely make time to do something with "da Boss" this weekend too......she rules the roost, ya know!!
I had planned on playing, the wife made other plans... I'll let her know how it was when i get back... We did cancel our camping/riding trip. hoping to do some splitting/stacking instead. And some canning
Play weekend for me. Saturday is my monthly fish club meeting and Sunday is our ride out to the annual Spoon River Festival. It is often our last bike ride of the season together before it gets too cold for her to ride pillion. Right now the weather looks like it might cooperate so that will make for a nice ride.
My weekend off from work, the kids soccer and football games have been cancelled. I decided to clean the stove today , I ran a brush thru the outside pipe got about a cup full of dust, good sign, took the black inside pipes off and they were clean , so I'm ready to burn, it's 55 outside with a steady rain, 71 inside. .Enjoy your weekend and be safe
Going to try to deliver 11 cord of firewood to 4 different customers this weekend even if it rains. Have 3 guys who will load and then split with the 2 splitters while I deliver the orders as long as the rain isn't too bad. It's work but I enjoy it and the cash. Cha Ching.
It's not always donating, she can get lucky as well. As New York Lotto says " You never know " I myself hate Slot machines but have been known to play Let it ride for hours on end. Good luck at the casino and enjoy it.
Suppose to be rain all weekend but if I get a break in weather off to the bush too buck up some fallen trees and do some practising with my new bow. First year hunting been a long time coming!
Like you, I hope to do some hunting. But if it rains, I won't hunt. A mist is okay but with bow hunting most of the time you follow a blood trail. Rain can do some bad things there and if I hit one I want to recover it.
hang in there. When you retire and start collecting retirement pay and health care, you won't regret the hours you worked. I'm collecting now. Good check without even getting out of bed!
Looks like a cool place. If you get down our way you'll need to check out the Pa Lumber Museum. Pennsylvania Lumber Museum - Went there a couple months ago, really neat place. They even have a life size chainsaw carving of Shawn Curry
Today I emptied the 5x8 trailer of a scrounge I'm keeping here. They're saying 45% chance of showers tomorrow, so if I can dodge them, I can get some pallets set up at home and at SILs' and move some wood up at home. Then Sunday no rain so I'll take down a dead White Ash and trailer it over to SIL's, for splitting later when we can all work on it. This Ash is a big'un, about 28" I think.
I'm going to haul more of my stack from my staging area to my house, for burning wood for this season. It's supposed to rain tomorrow, like today. I hope I can stay dry.
After a very dry few months it began raining here Thursday and hasn't stopped raining much since then, maybe 4-5 inches expected by end of day today, so taking the weekend off!
