im looking into what values today's grain and burl. With respect to woods that are more commonly used, some are more valued in others. Without being exhaustive, the common woodgrain can range from spalted to light to dark(walnut for example). Others its just interesting when we find an instance to use a pretty wood grain and then set to find materials. My question is what kinds of woods are more highly prized and what sets the market? Suppose I find a burl that ends up in my pile, does that have much value if any?

I would rather keep the staples of these out (walnut, cherry, oak etc) of the conversation because these woods actually have a more stable market than more unique woods. Providing you have an ample supply, furniture to keepsakes to whatever is used for these they are balanced.
    Thanks!
