The village I live in will deliver wood to its residents whenever they take a tree down. All you gotta do is call the DPW and put your name on the list. I only asked a couple weeks ago and was told I'd be put to the bottom of the list. I guess they rotate through the list each time they have wood. Came home from work and this was dumped in my driveway. Silver maple but free and delivered right to my processing area! Guess there's not too many people on this list, probably not many people even know about it. I only found out from a friend who works there. Where the hell am I gonna put all this???
I recon you'll first put it on the splitter, then on the………………….. I wish my town had a wood fairy, with a short list.
I like that, "wood fairy". She comes on down and hand delivers it piece by piece all the while sprinkling magic seasoning dust upon the wood.
I've got some room on my piles if your in a pinch! Well, not a lot of room after my dad came over today
Now that looks like a lot of work. Those are some big azz pieces. Too much for me, gonna be lots of great btus though.
Yea a lot of it stayed at the dump, would've never been able to throw them in the truck with out dad, it's almost as if they weighed half as much with his help lifting! Should've seen my poor ole truck with 20 or so rounds piled on it!
I thought so too! Although my taxes are high enough to the point they should also be s/s it for me and loading splits into the stove while serving me a nice bourbon.
Sweet, like ordering a pizza! And some classy guys smart enough to figure out where they should dump it for someone who is going to process it, a double bonus. Hope they become good friends.
They don't have to use up time, space and money to get rid of it and someone who will put it to good use gets it.
Good deal man! I like silver. Dries real fast and is great shoulder/mix wood. I've burned a lot this year and I'll take it anytime..
Check. He asked if I just wanted one load or if I wanted to get wood whenever they came back to my name. Obviously I chose the latter. I wonder if they get complaints from nosy neighbors wondering why village vehicles are being used to deliver wood? Poor misinformed people who don't realize it would actually cost more to dispose of it, or maybe jealous hoarders!
