Playing the waiting game on the governmental bodies to get their posteriors in gear. Got a call early this morning, closing pushed back another month due to the county ( end of Oct.- this is getting pricy ( and I am mildly ticked off). Orginal closing date was end of Aug. that means I can't get anything done outbuilding wise this year and its hard to seal up a flue system through the roof when temps are below 60 deg. ( ticked off because I had to pass on a outbuilding at 1/2 price with free shipping) Mowing lawn yesterday lawn tractor stops dead. Thought the eng. froze up ( 96+ the humidity) wasn't the case though. I had been mowing for about a 1/2 hour at that point already. One of blades possibly got a bit loose combined with a rather rough transport which knocked part of the deck out of kilter- up shot was blade wedged in to deck about 2" deep ( have to weld that up later on ). Fun part was a lack of tools at house.( 93 mile round trip to shop , 60 to anything open on Sunday) Found enough to get by and a 11oz claw hammer to straighten things out. So beat the living xxxx out of things with that feather duster of a hammer for 2 hours in the heat. Got it all back together and running, finished lawn. My get-up-n-go left to parts unknown by that time so still have a bunch of weed wacking to do.

You know if chris would have me I'd bet I'd be able to lend a hand with those chores. What do you say we take a vote or better yet create a travel fund so I could discover the joys of Wisconsin first hand. All in favor??

Our "hoarder community" is the only entity that would understand or donate so why give a cut to the "go fund me" people---I just need the gas money to get there---I'm pretty sure I could find food and shelter...

To go form Lake Erie to Wisconsin is just a nice drive.

At this time of year, use the secondary roads and enjoy the colors!

I am glad your foliage is looking good, ours is crap. This is probably one of the worst years I have ever seen. With the heat and the drought the leaves have a brown tinge to them. The ash leaves are all gone now, and its just...nasty. I love the fall colors too. :-(

Not quite sure why you are sneaking up on a freighter? Probably no more than a dozen guys on it, you would have them poor boys wore out in no time!

You gotta set your sights higher, keep your eyes open for a cruise ship!:D

    I would chip in.

Reading all 1377 replies on this thread is like being in a body cast, having nothing else to do but watch TV, and thus watching every re-run of the TV show "Who's the Boss." The watcher just knows that Tony Danza and Judith Light are going to get together in the end, but they have to go through eight years of shows to see it.

To heck with the bikini...we want to see a wedding dress. A Scavenger/Chris wedding would be a great Firewood Hoarders Club annual gathering event!

The combined efforts of two wood hoarders....now that's what I'm thinking....maybe have to sweeten the pot with a 10-day-turn-around-and-go-home guarantee :emb: Heck I checked the flight rates and a round trip is less than $300---just need the go-ahead....
