No fire for us yet. It's our main source of heat, but it's not quite cold enough to fire up the stove. It was 36* when I left for work at 7am but the house is well enough insulated that it held about 70* overnight. My wife always wants it to be 75-80*. Sometimes I just have to say no to a fire. However, she could start one anytime she wants, she is actually much more efficient at it than I am! The only way to stop her from running the stove in the spring is for me to stop bringing wood to the house.

Well, The beast will be at least test fired tonight. Boss gave my son the orders to tell me to have it going. She got called back to work so I didn't see or I might have protested.:p

First I must pull the window A/C and close all the windows(we just closed the storm windows last night). Maybe after I have a snack and a brew.......... :D

I highly advise against that course of action......results can be dangerous to your health. :heidi:

Have had the main floor stove set up with thermostat so it goes on when needed. Have not turned on the basement stove yet.

Stove fired a few times. Many fall duties to perform, way to busy at work, truck needs work, had a cold last several days. Bow hunting season underway, not enough time in a day. I have keep up with leaves though.

No fire yet. Like all years, this time of the season is too early for light heating from the basement. Its more efficient to run the oil heat for 20-30 minutes.

The thermostat has called for heat a few times this week and the old Quad has delivered. Still running a little pellet/corn mix.

There are MANY new pellet burners that have no idea what they're burning. They're just like the clerks in Lowes & HD.....a pellet is a pellet is a pellet. :picard:

I have talked to a few people that appear to be looking at the overpriced stuff. They can take the advice or not but at least they have been advised.

Maybe some of these people just dont want the hassle and only go for the ease of what is in front of them.

My buddy was one of them until I let him test a few of what I have. Sets and softies(La Crete's) spoiled da chit out of him.

I'm not gonna complain about $279 softies after seeing the $314.50 price tag on GT's....... That's just plain :loco:   o_O

My pellet supplier generally throws an extra bag or two id he has a pallet that might have shipping damage. About 5 years ago, he gave me 2 bags of LaCrete to compensate for a damaged bag on the bottom of a Spruce Pointe pallet. Given a generally similar price I have used LaCrete over Spruce Pointe since.

Just ordered 4 ton of Crabbe for 244/ton. LaCrete is out of stock but was going to be 30 per ton more so we would likely have stayed withe the Crabbe anyway. LaCrete may be a better but not really 120.00 better.

    50/50 or what?
Do you clean the white stuff out first?
    Does it give more heat?
