I like that you can see that red needle from a distance sorta as a go , no go reading when in gauging the cat... Yes it's nice knowing your getting a dead nuts accurate temperature reading... Money well spent... You think Woodstock should sell them?

How many wood burners even use double wall stove pipe? Honestly I doubt most wood burners want to spend $70 on a probe thermometer. However if I were selling stoves I would heartily recommend both.

I always wanted to see one and actually searched for one but never found any.

So I researched time lapse apps, and made one.

    I'll send him the link.

Brian, if you know of someone who has a trail camera, you can set them up for the time thing and it will also put a time stamp on the picture.

Did the smell of the burning BL bother you at all? When we tried it, outdoors was awful but only occasionally did we get any slight whiff of it indoors. I think that was when someone went in or out of the house.

Overall, I think this was a great thing to have another forum member donate the wood and you have a beta testing stove, etc. Thank you.

This was honey locust Dennis and I didn't notice any smell. Then again, I wasn't outside during this burn cycle at all. Even when I am outside I rarely smell smoke from this stove.

Scott was a real sport about sharing his locust. My brother Tim (TurboDiesel here on the forum) also gave me about a dozen locust splits for further testing. Scott's wood had a pink color to the heart wood, Tim's was mostly light colored. I don't know if that color relates to black or honey locust.

I would, but I just don't like your camera angle.

I've got one that is surprisingly very accurate, IR verified.

Excellent video, Brian. I'm liking the way that stove burns. I use a double wall with a probe too. Much easier to adjust the burn on my Endeavor with a top and flue thermometer. I use the Condar brand, and the stove top model was dead on with an IR therm test. Can't test the flue probe, but I'm guessing its close. Might use the pro model you have if this one goes bad.

Condar has lots of cool stuff for wood stoves and fireplaces. http://www.condar.com

Thanks Al. I'm enjoying putting it through its paces. I love how quickly it can heat up my house when I need it to, yet I can dial it down for a low burn too.

Here was my first trial run with the time lapse app, using a bunch of kiln dried oak ends and boards. It self aborted about an hour into the burn cycle because the iPhone overheated and turned itself off. Who new that propping an iPhone 3' in front of a blazing hot stove would do that?!? D'oh!

Brian, quick heating is especially nice in the shoulder season. The nice thing is that you get the benefit of a steel stove along with the lasting heat of something with mass. Wood stoves keep getting better.
