I asked a buddy of mine that spelunk's what a trustworthy durable flashlight was that I should purchase. He is a HUGE fan of Zebra Light. They are small, and powerful, and waterproof. They get a little hot and are on the expensive side, but it hasn't let me down. I got mine over a year and a half ago and love it. SC62w 18650 Flashlight Neutral White They are on sale now too!
Both are my everyday work carry... both serve there purpose, but usually use the coast see most often since it doesn't seem to reflect the light right back into my eyes...
Do you re-program the ProTac to come on in "Low" first? I did and it works much better as a work light for me. High is way too much for looking into cabinets and enclosures at close range.
No, but didn't know that was possible... I usually use it to look into dark machinery or non reflective metals. The coast flash light has a "softer" light that does reflect so harshly off the surface of the shiny surface of the molds.
I always forget about my headlamp, just yesterday looking under the hood of the wifes car holding a flashlight, DUH.
Here's a couple that are recommended Eagletac Eagletac A25 c clicky - Google Search Fenix https://www.fenixlighting.com/product-category/activity/every-day-carry/ I have a Thrunite TI3 Great lights for the money ($22). I like to carry mine (TI3, one AAA battery) in my shirt pocket. Get the reversible clip and you can put it on the bill of your hat.ThruNite T10 XP-L 252 Lumen Flashlight Zebralight. Pricey but highly recommended. You'll need to decide what kind of light you NEED ! Then find a light that does that. All the lights you find now are usually more light than you need. I have a few that take the CR123 batteries, but they are about $2.50 or more when bought in bulk. My Streamlights will probably get retired due to battery usage. These older lights are not "regulated" meaning they are super brite but eat batteries fast. I don't go anywhere without my Thrunite TI3 and use it everyday. One AAA battery ($22) Julie carries the Fenix E12 one AA battery ($25)
Try it out. Easy to do and I never use the strobe mode for anything useful anyways. The vid is for a ProTac HL, the 2L is the same procedure.
Compared to others this one is cheap (that I've owned and seen). But for just under $90? This is a great flashlight with many options and enough parts to rebuild once it is worn out!
If you are looking good to light up the area, the Nitecore TM26 gets it done. 4 Cree leds. Listed as providing 3800 lumens. Has several brightness modes. Got one from Santa a fee years ago. Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
I gave a 1st gen Fenix TK75 to a (very) close friend for Christmas several years ago. Similar category of light, just a little less strange looking. These things aren't much bigger than the old D cell flashlights from decades ago, a lot less bulky than the old 6V lanterns, but man they light up an area like those old lights could never hope to!
Yup. It's a bear stopper. Would blind most anything it's shown at. Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk
I like something with a little more heat for bear stopping... These LED's are just getting better and better. Amazing the light output!
I've been bitten by the EDC bug. Practical stuff combined with gear obsession. What's not to like? I'm moving on from knives to flashlights. Just picked this one up yesterday. My first quality light. Amazing the step up in performance versus my old crappy ones. What this thing does with a single AA versus low quality ones with 2 AA or four AAA is pretty impressive. Next up...thinking Fenix UE35.
